Yes, the Newsletter is Back!!

We are open on Memorial Day and we are having STASH SALE!!!

Yes, we ARE open on Memorial Day and we are having Stash Sale. We got in over 200 new skeins of yarn, from Westminster, and KnitPicks and Hobby Lobby and and... And it's all marked at ridiculous bargain prices, so come in grab it before it's gone. We also have a few nice shop models included in the sale that were donated by our Westminster rep. And we have mix and match sock singles for $3.00 each. They also came from Westminster, so I think they are all knitted from Regia sock yarns.
New Yarns in Stock!
Summer colors of Madeline Tosh yarns have made it in and they are delicious. We also just received new colors of Misti Alpaca's Pima Cotton Silk blend and Shibui Linen and so many more....

We finally got the last of the December Marble Chunky order and most of the end of winter Berroco Comfort order in within the past 2 weeks, although there is a little Comfort still on backorder. We have mostly run out of Marble Chunky again, but again, the colors we've ordered are on backorder. We are hoping for them by the end of the first week of June.
The larger sizes and interchangeable sets of Knitter's Pride Karbonz are also due in early June.

And have you been in lately to see all the fun summer yarns we've got - new yarns, and new colors of old favorites from Cascade, Classic Elite, Universal and more, and lots of new summer pattern booklets and magazines.

I promised you new classes; they are coming!
We have Knitting Essentials 101 and  Crochet Essentials 101, our introductory classes, on deck, hoping to start them in about 2 to 3 weeks. We've also got the round crocheted lace shawl class and a knitted stole/scarf planned and a few other classes, but don't have all the details worked out yet.

On Saturday, June 1st, Kirsten is starting a new "Knit Your Own Project" class; details in the next newsletter. These classes usually meet at least 2 to 3 weeks apart to give participants time to get their knitting done before the next session. If you think you might be interested, call the shop and talk to Kirsten about it.

Upcoming classes planned for later this summer include a Christmas in July knitting class to get started on holiday gifts and accessories, a 2 color techniques class that does not involved carrying any yarn anywhere, a crocheted baby surprise jacket class, and more.

We are also considering a repeat of the Knitted Baby Surprise jacket class, and possibly a class on learning how to spin by hand.

Hopefully, registration will be open on all of these classes later on this week; in the meantime, if you're interested in any of them, please let the shop staff know so that we can follow up with you when we're get the details worked out.

More Expansion/Renovation News
Our expansion is basically done except for the floor problem. The subcontractor who installed the flooring, Greg Slaten / Slaten's Flooring (256.656.7936), apparently didn't supervise his folks when they were doing the job, and they took some shortcuts, Now he has refused to fix the problems that came from not doing the job right. His crew apparently does the installations for the carpet/flooring place down the block from us under his supervision; I know I won't be shopping with them anytime in the future. My understanding is that the threshold that goes between our old floor and our new has a metal base that is supposed to be screwed into the concrete, and then the wood trim gets glued on top, but all they did was to glue the pieces down, and they were stingy with the glue at that. I am planning to report them to the BBB and Angie's List if he doesn't get his act together, but am open to other suggestions, if anyone has any. And feel free to spread the word; we all need to act against shoddy workmanship.

We finally got our new main customer restroom completed. There were some problems there as well, but they were worked out. This restroom is technically not handicapped accessible, however, our original restroom in back is still available if you need an ADA standard restroom.

We've got a new illuminated Open sign, so you can tell that we're open from across the parking lot, and we are working with the landlord to get a new shop sign out front and get rid of the Wholesale Trophy shop sign.

Tastings, KALs and Trunk Shows....
We've got a summer of knitting and crocheting fun planned for you.

We have started receiving our Classic Elite trunk shows to support all of their new books. Click here to preview the books or come into the shop to check out all the details.

And we're participating in the Classic Elite Yarns Summer Knitalong again this year. If you'd like a chance to win a gift basket like the one shown here, come in and sign up. Your chances are good - last year's winner, Sarah, now works for the shop so is ineligible to participate.

The rules are simple:

Participants must register by June 10th, 2013. Projects must be from one of the 2013 Classic Elite Spring pattern collections, use at least 3 skeins of any Classic Elite yarn purchased this season, and be completed by July 31st, so that we can submit pictures of completed projects to Classic Elite. If we have at least ten registered participants who complete the KAL, we will have a second prize - a $25.00 gift certificate.

Tastings - this summer we have a slightly different tasting planned - we're going to taste needles (well, and some yarn also - you need yarn to try needles). Knitter's Pride is send us tasting samples of all of their different needles, so if you've always wanted to try Cubics, or the new Karbonz in the larger sizes, or Dreamz or Nova, this will be your chance.

The tentative dates are Saturday August 16th and Sunday August 17th, with the $10 registration fee going to Animal Rescue as always.

We are also talking to Frog Tree Yarns, suppliers of Ewetopia, Merino Melange, Pediboo and Picoboo yarns, about tasting their yarns at the same time. Their yarns are wonderfully soft, mostly alpaca yarns. While  we do carry some of their yarns, at the tasting, you will be able to order any color of any of their yarns, and get it in time for your holiday knitting.
