Some updates on the upcoming classes, and the Wounded Warrior project and the sale of the shop....
Small Indie Dyers Sale!
|
|
Blue Heron
Prism
HPKY
Great Adirondack
& Sweaterkits yarns
are all on sale for
25% off
Friday Saturday & Sunday
26, 27 & 28 September
Get a headstart on your holiday shopping or just start making some fun accessories for gifts, and for yourself for the holidays. All the yarns in this sale come from small companies that hand-dye in small batches, so no two batches are ever exactly the same.
And all kits are included in the sale - yes, the Hanne Falkenbergs as well as the Cristal Seyforths and the other miscellaneous kits around the shop.
We've also moved some things from the 25% off bins to the 40% off clearance bins, so there are some great bargains to be had.
We are starting to get in our fall winter yarns, so this is a great time to get started on your all-season layerable sweaters.

Classes Update!
|
|
The CrochetAlong is an ongoing event that has migrated to Tuesday afternoon at the request of the participants and will meet every 2 weeks instead of monthly. If you'd like to join in call the shop or come by and talk to Sharon about it. She can help you get started. Unlike our regular classes, you don't have to come every time. Sharon is in the shop most weekday afternoons, and closes most Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The list below is all the classes we currently have scheduled. Click on the class name to pull up the flyer and get all the details.
Arm Knitted Cowls was cancelled. If anyone is interested, I can set up a private lesson. Due to the schedules of our instructors, and the upcoming holiday season, there will probably only be a few more classes added to this list. If there is something you would desperately like to see, send me an email and I'll discuss it with the instructors.
Some of other classes we're still trying to schedule include a needle felted scarf class, a needle felted "critters" class, possibly a triloom class if there's interest, a class using weaving sticks, and then hopefully something in the late fall on Rigid Heddle looms...

| The Wounded Warrior Shawl Project is Going Strong! |
|
We've started to collect up a nice pile of shawls, wraps and stoles for the local Semper Fi group. Like last year, they will give our contributions to female wounded warriors and to spouses and caregivers of male wounded vets to wear to the Semper Fi formal event in November.
We would like to have all the donations in by mid-October, so we can get them organized to donate by the first of November. If you're a quick knitter or crocheter, there is still time to come into the shop and sign out some of the yarn donated by some of our suppliers.
Please save the ballbands from the yarn so that care instructions can be passed on to the recipients.
Shop Sale |
|
We have had some general inquiries, but no one has made a comittment yet, so if you are considering a career change, want to be your own boss, want to make your beloved hobby more than just a hobby, or just don't want to see Huntsville without a real local yarn shop, send me an email, or call me to talk about the possibilities. Shop staff can give you my direct office phone number.
If the shop is not under contract with a buyer by the end of the year, it will close on or about January 20th. There will NOT be a going out of business sale. Remaining inventory will be journalled into an online shop and sold that way.
If you are interested but have time constraints, perhaps due to pending retirement or other issues, I can try to work with you. It is my intention to work with a new shop owner as much as possible, to give you the benefit of all I have learned over these past 4 years. But I am traveling extensively, so we need to work out details sooner rather than later. I am mostly unavailable from 15 Jan 15 until 20 March 15, so the end of year deadline is necessary in order for you to get in spring merchandise in a timely fashion.
We are continuing to get limited amounts of new yarns (MadelineTosh, Pepperbury, Frabjous Fibers, Mountain Colors and others will be filtering in over the next few weeks) and if you need something specific for a holiday project you have in mind, we can probably still get it for you, but you need to let us know as soon as possible. Anything that is not ordered by about 15 October will probably not make it. |
